Description
This role involves working with the Grower Department Manager and Producers to enhance flock performance and consistency. Key responsibilities include managing Grower flocks, maintaining relationships with producers, guiding their development, and ensuring they understand performance goals. The position requires regular farm visits to assess flock health, data collection, compliance with testing, and strategy development for improved production. It also includes tracking issues with flocks, suggesting facility updates, managing documentation, and ensuring a safe work environment according to regulations. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
Essential Functions/Duties
1. Work with Grower Department Manager and Producers.
2. Implement vision for Growers.
3. Direct and manage Grower flocks to maximize consistency and performance between all flocks.
4. Maintain and cultivate positive relationships with producers and team members.
5. Provides direction, discipline, development for Producers when needed.
6. Keep producers aware of performance goals and how they compare.
7. Visit farms weekly to evaluate flocks and care of ducks.
8. Collects data and inputs into MTech.
9. Make sure all farms are functioning efficiently and within Culver Standards.
10. Organize swabs, weighs, etc.
11. Ensure that all flocks are current on testing requirements.
12. Develop short-term strategies to improve live production performance through flock health and productivity.
13. Track problem flocks and plan out course of action. Producers that are struggling should receive additional attention.
14. Recommend farm facilities updates of equipment to replace, or repair when necessary.
15. Make sure that paperwork is for all farms.
16. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations such as OSHA, Animal Welfare and Biosecurity.
17. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training:
Bachelor’s or associate degree (poultry or other agricultural related degree is preferred) and/or equivalent related work experience, to include 1-5 years of poultry experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Ability to effectively communicate; both written and oral.
o Experience with Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
o Experience with MTech
Experience:
o Animal/Livestock
Certification/Licenses:
o Valid Drivers’ License
o Experience in animal husbandry/animal welfare
Travel Requirements:
o Travel will be expected
Physical and Mental Job Requirements
o Ability to easily move through all facets of Live Operations and Processing Plant.
o Periods of long standing and/or walking are expected
o Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time; read and analyze reports.
o Ability to lift 25 lbs.
