This is a temporary full-time position that will commence as soon as possible and ends August 31, 2026.
Role Overview: The Plumber is responsible for routine and preventative plumbing maintenance and installations, trouble shooting of plumbing and mechanical components and controls on operational systems as well as minor renovations while providing a safe environment for students, staff and the public.
What you will do:
Independently and accurately diagnose and repair plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems and components for problems or failures.
Assist with building indoor air quality, environmental and thermal comfort systems to optimize system performance and school/workplace comfort through Building Automation System (BAS).
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets specifications and legislated requirements.
Perform required and ad hoc safety inspections to evaluate condition, identify and complete necessary repairs and/or preventative maintenance routines.
Use judgment to complete assigned work in an efficient manner while maintaining safety considerations first and foremost.
Accurately complete all required tracking and records to comply with provincial and school division record keeping requirements (including the Asset Planner application).
Maintain a safe, clean, organized and productive work area and vehicle.
Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Facilities Manager or the Facilities Supervisor.
What will make you successful:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Valid Journeyman Certificate in the plumbing trade.
Minimum three years of practical experience in commercial plumbing installations and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and understand technical plumbing and mechanical schematics, drawings, and manuals.
Ability to understand and articulate problems and solutions verbally and in written form.
Thorough knowledge and adherence to safety standards, relevant building codes, and the National Plumbing Code of Canada.
Ability to safely operate and use equipment, tools, and diagnostic equipment to trouble shoot and repair plumbing and mechanical systems.
Ability to perform physical labour, including: lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs., moving equipment, and utilizing suitable equipment for handling of heavy or awkward loads.
Ability to drive long distances daily within the school division.
Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.
What you can expect:
Hourly rate range: $37.97 - $44.42

Hours of work are 7.5 hours per day, 12 months per year.
