EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Primary Duties Pitch and write original new articles, features, or multimedia stories. Contribute photography to accompany stories or editorial assignments. Assist with researching and gathering information for ongoing stories. Conduct interviews (phone, video, or in-person). Support fact-checking and proofreading processes. Collaborate with editors and multimedia teams. Attend department meetings and contribute story ideas. Help manage content for digital platforms and social media. Monitor current events, with particular attention to New Mexico, and propose relevant story ideas. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Qualifications Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field. Strong writing, grammar, and storytelling skills. Curiosity and a passion for news, current events, and media. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Basic understand of AP Style. Familiarity with digital tools (e.g. CMS platforms, social media, Google Docs)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Equivalent to
a high school diploma, currently enrolled in an accredited university with
major course work in Journalism, Communications, or English.

including ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and lift 25 lbs.
