UNTAMED - HEAD INSTRUCTOR

RATE OF PAY: $20.00 per hour.
POSITION SUMMARY
Ogden City Untamed is a competitive sports club where young athletes can excel in baseball, softball, boys & girls' basketball, and volleyball. We aim to develop individuals into skilled multi-sport athletes and representatives of the Ogden Community. Our mission is to develop well-rounded individuals who excel both as athletes and as ambassadors of the Ogden community. We aim to equip participants with the skills necessary to succeed at the high school level, all at an affordable cost. We are dedicated to fostering personal growth in every aspect of our participants' lives.
SPORTS BACKGROUND IN ONE OR MORE PROGRAMS
- Softball
Individuals must be able to receive a groundball, throw, swing a bat, run, and perform any other softball skills.
- Volleyball
Individuals must be able to perform setting, spiking. running, jumping, passing, lateral movements, and other volleyball fundamentals and skills.
- Baseball
Individuals must be able to receive a groundball, throw, swing a bat, run, and perform any other Baseball skill.
- Basketball
Individuals must be able to perform shooting, dribbling, rebounding, boxing out, running, jumping, passing, lateral movements, and other basketball fundamentals and skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Duties may change as assigned, including instructing skills development, strength and conditioning, speed and agility, engaging with community members, and educating youth and parents about the sport rules.
- Work with a diverse range of participants, ranging from 6 to 17 years old.
- Plan and conduct individual and group softball training sessions focused on skill development.
- Assess players' abilities and create customized development plans to improve their personal and group performance.
- Teach fundamental techniques, game strategies, and proper sportsmanship.
- Provide constructive feedback to athletes and encourage positive development.
- Communicate each session's practice plan and delegate drills/skills to other instructors.
- Required to prepare, set up, and take down equipment for each session, camp, or clinic.
- May be required to attend special events for the Untamed program.
- Required to attend Instructor trainings provided by the Recreation Staff.
- May be required to run Untamed Team tryouts throughout the year.
- Serve as a positive role model and promote teamwork, discipline, and respect.
- Enforce rules and policies; ensure the safety and security of recreation participants and facilities.
- Answer inquiries and provide information to the public about the Untamed Program and Untamed Teams.
- Perform general field and ground maintenance/assist with field setup.
- Handling any situations on-site that may arise, such as protests, official no-shows, rule questions, inclement weather, emergencies, incidents, etc.; other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- The minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
- A Valid Driver's License is required.
- Previous playing experience at high school, college, or professional level.
- This position's schedule is twice a week throughout the year for an hour each session, excluding Holidays. In addition, there are some extended opportunities to run camps or clinics outside of the Untamed program day and times. Ability to work nights and weekends when assigned.
- Knowledge and experience in coaching and instructing the fundamentals and advanced-level skills. This is applicable to the offensive and defensive sides of each sport.
- Supervisory and coaching experience preferred. Lead a team of up to four, Assistant Instructors, and as many as forty participants in each session.
- Certification by the American Red Cross in Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association CPR, or ability to obtain such certification, is required within six months of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors with a variety of conditions, including excessive temperatures and inclement weather. Standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasional lifting, moving, dragging, pushing, and carrying heavy objects; up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
