HIL/Industrial Automation Technician

We are adding to our team and seek a hands-on, detail-oriented HIL/Industrial Automation Technician to support the build and integration of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems onsite in Pontiac, MI. The technician will work closely with engineering teams to assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot HIL systems used for automotive and industrial automation applications.
In this role you will:
- Assemble and wire HIL systems based on engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Support the integration of ECUs, sensors, actuators, and other components into HIL setups.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Perform system-level testing and troubleshooting of HIL setups.
- Collaborate with engineers to validate system functionality and resolve issues.
- Maintain documentation for builds, modifications, and test procedures.
- Ensure quality and consistency across multiple HIL builds.
- Support manufacturing and quality processes related to HIL builds.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HIL systems, industrial automation, or electrical panel assembly.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with tools and equipment for wiring, soldering, and testing.
- Familiarity with CAN, LIN, and other automotive communication protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with HIL platforms such as dSPACE, or NI.
- Knowledge of Rapid Harness or E3 for wiring diagram design.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automation/testing.
