About the Department
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Early Childhood & Elementary Education department. The pool will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available.
Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various Early Childhood & Elementary Education courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, develop and update course materials for online or in person instruction, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping, and instruction within the team atmosphere of the Early Childhood & Elementary Education department of Rogue Community College.
Supervision Received The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
Position Duties
- Instruct students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate during the day, evening, or weekend.
- Develop course content to meet course outcomes and align with program and institutional outcomes.
- Adapt learning procedures to the online/distance learning environment, including hybrid, zoom, and web-based delivery, ensuring comparable quality of instruction, student-teacher interaction, and assessment with traditional classroom-based courses.
- Advise students on matters of program goals and course requirements.
- Organize the learning experience for the maximum benefit of learners with individual needs.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.
- Develop, communicate, and utilize a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course.
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff.
- May participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
- Engage in regular professional growth activities based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner.
- Represent the ECEE Department and the College to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
- Responsible for departmental equipment and provide for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Experience: A minimum of two years' documented, successful teaching or training experience is required.
Knowledge of: Knowledge of the subject area to be taught which may include, child development infancy through middle childhood, developmentally appropriate practice and play-based learning, guiding children in group settings, curriculum development, social-emotional development and building resilience, supporting children with specialized needs, equity/diversity/inclusion in education, and building partnerships with families.
Computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, networks, the Internet, spreadsheets, multi-media presentations; curriculum development; contemporary community colleges mission, role in higher education, needs of diverse student body; the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to support a variety of learning approaches.
Ability to: Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; work collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and related instructional duties in the subject area; participate in curriculum and program development; participate in college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in the classroom including online instruction and hybrid learning, including the use of new technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth; pass a criminal background check.
Licenses: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 60%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials 5-25 pounds daily (massage tables & classroom furniture), and 25-60 pounds occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.

This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Early Childhood & Elementary Education department. Compensation is based on the Rogue Community College 25-26 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule.
