As a Tax Staff, you will play a key role in assisting with tax compliance and planning while gaining valuable experience working with a variety of clients. You will collaborate as part of a team across offices to prepare tax returns, conduct research on tax regulations, and ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws.
A Day in the life of a Tax Staff Accountant…
- Prepare and review various tax returns, including but not limited to individual, corporate, partnership, non-profit, gift, and trust tax returns.
- Collaborate with clients to gather relevant financial information and documentation for tax return preparation.
- Conduct in-depth tax research to ensure accurate interpretation and application of tax laws and regulations.
- Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and strategies to optimize clients' tax positions and minimize tax liabilities.
- Assist in tax planning initiatives to provide clients with insights into potential tax implications of financial decisions.
- Stay updated with changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to client scenarios.
- Participate in client meetings and discussions, providing clear and concise explanations of tax-related matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams ensuring accurate and timely reporting of tax-related financial information.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures, suggesting innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance (150 credits highly desired).
- 0-2 years’ experience (can include a tax internship with a CPA firm).
- Desire and determination to obtain a CPA license.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
- Strong community orientation.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of UltraTax a plus.
