This position will be primarily dealing with the private sewer lateral rebate program, vetting video inspections and ensuring all applications are processed. There is a heavy emphasis on ensuring PC municipal code 126.700 thru 126.704 are complied with. This position reports to a manager, supervisor or designee.
This position Engineering Technician 1 position is located at: 14 S. Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756. Work Scheduled: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
What Will You Do?
Provide technical information and inventory data for engineering and operational use and tracking.
Works closely with professional staff to identify and development collections criteria for the necessary data.
Performs data and information processing related to work duties including encoding data into spreadsheet and database files, mapping programs, and tracking software (ex: Agile/CityWorks).
Perform research to determine the origin of inventoried equipment and or facilities.
Perform field visits/reviews to identify required devices in place per plans and maintained in good working order (school zones, etc.)
Provide professional staff with written and/or verbal reports on site observations for traffic and/or school related function and operation.
What Do You Need?
Experience: General technical experience involving skills in map reading, data entry, reading and understanding legal descriptions, and reading and understanding engineering plans.
High school graduate and possess of at least 2 years experience as described above.
Associates' degree and experience as described above.
Bachelors' or higher level- degree and experience as described above.
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Highly Desirable
Understanding of transportation systems, operations, devices, maintenance of traffic, signage and signal operations.
Certified in Signage and Markings Level 1.
Certified in Bike Helmet Fitting.
· Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the ESRI Collector Application software, mapping and data collection.
Knowledge and experience with signage requirements for roadway operations.
Knowledge of computers and iPad devices.
Ability to collect data via an iPad device.
Ability to interpret and communicate, both verbally and in writing, data from engineering plans, diagrams and complex reports.
Ability to communicate with the public and other agencies on issues and results.
