Director of Access
The Director of Access leads and manages client intake and enrollment processes into outpatient care for Diversus Health, a Colorado behavioral health safety-net provider organization. This role is responsible for developing and executing an inclusive client enrollment strategy that prioritizes timely access to care and client engagement into a robust continuum of treatment options.
Essential Functions:
Strategy and Program Development
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a hybrid client enrollment model that includes same-day walk-ins, scheduled appointments, and community-based enrollment pathways.
- Champion accessibility and equity in enrollment.
- Inform and execute goals to achieve related KPIs that align with organizational priorities, including timely access to care, intake to first appointment conversion rates, and reduced no-show rates.
- Owner of referral management strategy and operational execution.
Client Enrollment Management
- Oversee daily new client enrollment workflows across in-person clinics, telehealth clients, and community-based enrollment locations.
- Utilize EHR and related technology platforms to manage workflows, client records, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain scheduling systems for both same-day and planned enrollment appointments.
- Ensure effective coordination with various direct care departments for timely linkage to the full range of Diversus Health services following enrollment and initial clinical assessment.
- Establish and manage mobile or community-based enrollment services in collaboration with schools, primary care offices, hospitals, shelters, and other partner agencies.
Leadership and Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise a multidisciplinary enrollment team including both clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Foster staff growth through coaching, ongoing performance management, and professional development opportunities.
- Promote and drive values-based culture.
Compliance and Continuous Quality Improvement
- Ensure all enrollment procedures meet requirements for Colorado Medicaid and other public and commercial payers.
- Monitor performance data and ensure audit readiness for accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Analyze trends and report on enrollment volumes, conversion rates, and workflow challenges.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to optimize client experience and operational efficiency.
Referral management strategy and operational execution
- Foster collaborative intradepartmental relationships.
- Create and nurture relationships with external partners and referral sources.
- Resolve client or referral source concerns related to the enrollment process in a timely and professional manner.
- Serve as a liaison between Diversus Health and referral sources to facilitate warm handoffs.
- Functional Point of Contact for external referral partners and community agencies.
Qualifications and KSAs
- Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university
- Candidates should have clinical licensure (LMFT, LCSW, LPC, PsyD etc.)
- Experience in community mental health preferred.
- 3–5 years of admissions or access management experience in behavioral health or healthcare, ideally working with the safety net or Medicaid-serving population.
- 2+ years of supervisory or program leadership experience.
- Experience with hybrid service models (in-person, telehealth, community-based) preferred.
- Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, managed care, and public behavioral health systems.
- Strong operational, process improvement, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and scheduling tools.
