Description
- Provide customer service related to patient accounts.
- Facilitate the financial assistance process; notifies patients of findings, keeps accurate records as needed, and monitors accounts.
- Assist in the collection of patient account balances.
- Review accounts prior to referral to bad debt.
- Resolve delinquent account issues.
- Makes recommendations for disposition.
- Notifies billing clerk when a payment has not been received from the insurance company and/or a claim may need to be rebilled.
- Reviews the status of payment plans monthly, and contacts the patient by mail and/or phone to discuss the payment status.
- Assists the payment coordinator/Specialist with posting of payments.
- Demonstrates support and participates in accomplishing team goals.
- Screen patients for government and other funding resources.
- Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalency
- Related experience preferred.
- Medical terminology and/or related experience preferred.
Required Skill/Abilities:
- Demonstrated computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to discuss financial matters with patients and/or their representative
- Negotiation/analytical skills required to review patient accounts and determine appropriate course of action
- Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records/reports
- Maintain high level of confidentiality due to sensitive nature of information.
Special Physical/Working Conditions:
- Work is of light demand.
- Requires routine lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Standing, sitting, walking, bending and reaching are required.
