PRIMARY PURPOSE
Their primary role of the Instructional Coach is to collaborate with campus administration in order to observe teacher performance during classroom instruction, provide coaching to classroom teachers on best instructional practices for students. In addition, provide relevant professional development utilizing teacher and student data during campus professional development days and other staff development sessions as well as monitor and support teachers and department chairs/team leaders in leading effective campus learning communities. They will facilitate campus Professional Learning Communities (PLC); and provide support and guidance for development of student learning objectives.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, required.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate, required;
- Master’s degree, preferred
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of three years’ experience in public school education.
- Experience working as district or campus team or department leader preferred.

- Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, state accountability, student assessments, mentoring, and professional developmentas demonstrated by an advanced degree, advanced training and/or career experience
- Ability to analyze student data to provide teachers with feedback and resources to enhance the teacher’s ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventions
- Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team-teaching, video presentations, and student achievement gains
- Classroom demonstrations and external observations
- Proof of contribution to profession such as research, publications, mentoring, presentations, and awards
- Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide professional development utilizing teacher and student data on campus professional development days and other training time.
- Monitor and support campus department chairpersons/team leaders in leading effective Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Provide coaching to campus department chairperson and classroom teachers on best instructional practices for students.
- Participate as a member of campus PLC.
- Plan and lead campus professional development days.
- Analyze school-wide student data as basis for developing school plan
- Develop school plan utilizing the PLC processes.
- Oversee planning, facilitation, and follow-up of campus and district PLC meetings during professional growth time.
- Team-teach with colleagues, demonstrate model lessons, develop and help implement curriculum
- Know compliance process for monitoring teacher effectiveness and participation within special programs, specifically compliance procedures for special education and ESL programs.
- Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching towards meeting teachers’ Individual Growth Plangoals
- Observe teacher performance using teacher evaluation rubric and conduct follow-up teacher conferences.
- Participate in all teacher evaluation trainings and become a certified evaluator.
- Attend required professional developmentmeetings
- Work an expanded calendar year.
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
- Evaluate teacher classroom performance and provide feedback for growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with administration to ensure effective teaching and learning.
- Coordinate PLC activities on campus
- Coordinate local benchmark and state assessments
- Monitor campus-wide implementation of instructional strategies
- Coordinate Student Progress Monitoring System

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written), interpret policies and procedures, reason, read, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, instruct, and maintain emotional control. Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15-44 pounds), sit, stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, travel frequently within the District.
