Position Title: Education Technician II
Location: Mitchell Primary School
Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Special Services
Start Date: August 27, 2025
Required Certification: Educational Technician II

General Purpose: To be responsible for the supervision of children assigned to him/her. This person will review and implement learning previously introduced by the Special Education Teacher.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related information
-Meet with program supervisor on a daily basis to share information and discuss student
progress
-Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teachers
-Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and class management functions
-Maintain appropriate certification by attending meetings and trainings as assigned
-Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
-Provide input to completion and maintenance of individual observational child assessment
-Participate in required training
-Perform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems
necessary
Minimum Qualifications
-Obtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech II per Chapter 115 of the Maine Department of
Education
-Document at least two years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 60
hours of approved study in an educationally related field
-Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check

-Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems and special education
methods
-Exhibit a positive professionalism with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and
community
-Interact with a wide variety of people
-Provide individual and group services in a variety of settings and models
-Establish an effective rapport/relationship with children and parents
-Work collaboratively as a member of an early childhood team
-Effectively communicate - orally and in writing
-Maintain composure in stressful situations
-Adapt therapy techniques to varying personalities and environments
