Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controls Technician to support the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of automated control systems. This role will involve working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, actuators, and other control system components across a range of equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and related devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the design and modification of control panels and system layouts.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, electricians, and production teams to support automation needs.
- Maintain documentation for all control systems, including backup of programs and updates to schematics.
- Perform preventive maintenance on control systems and instrumentation.
- Comply with all relevant safety standards and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Industrial Controls, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in controls, automation, or industrial maintenance.
- Proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics.
- Familiarity with industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with robotic systems, motion controls, or building automation systems.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety standards.
- Experience in manufacturing, facilities management, or process industries.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in industrial environments (heat, noise, heights, confined spaces).
- Lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
