About the role 

As the Supervisor Natural Areas you will be responsible for managing, leading and supervising natural areas staff who deliver diverse, complex and at times a sensitive range of projects and programs. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage staff and resources to plan, prioritise, and implement a diverse program of environmental works, ensuring alignment with Council strategies and compliance with legislation.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners and the community to support project delivery, funding acquisition, and environmental education programs.
  • Oversee external engagements, project scoping, budgeting, reporting, and contract documentation using Council’s Project Management Framework to meet time, quality, and budget targets.
  • Provide specialist advice on biodiversity, sustainability, contaminated land and natural area matters including waterways; contribute to strategic planning documents and corporate initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement through technical innovation. 

About You 

We are looking for a leader who will bring: 

  •  Recognised Degree qualifications including Environmental Management, Park Management, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Class C Drivers license
  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in Natural Areas Management or a related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of capital projects. 
  • Strong understanding of natural area management principles and relevant legislation including the NSW Local Government Act, Biodiversity Conservation Act, and Rural Fires Act.
  • Proven skills in negotiation, advocacy, report writing, and people management, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of staff, community groups, and public authorities.
  • Demonstrated ability in policy development, budget and financial management, project and contract oversight, and organisational planning within a dynamic workplace.
  • Skilled in resolving complex issues methodically, managing priorities independently and within teams, and applying sound judgement in sensitive and confidential matters.

What’s on offer
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $146,512 to $161,317 plus 12% superannuation.
