About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environment and Carbon Analyst to join our Sustainability team. Reporting to the Senior Climate Action & Engagement Manager, this role combines carbon data analysis with climate action and stakeholder engagement, supporting Springer Nature’s commitment to science-based climate targets and meaningful environmental impact.

You will play a key role in improving the accuracy and effectiveness of our carbon data reporting, supporting internal and external disclosures, and contributing to projects that enhance data quality and drive carbon reduction. Beyond data, you will actively engage with teams across the organization to embed climate action into decision-making, operations, and culture.

With support from experienced specialists and external consultants, you’ll help ensure our reporting aligns with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), GHG Protocol and CSRD requirements, while also contributing to initiatives that reduce emissions and foster climate awareness.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with some experience in carbon footprint anaylsis who is eager to deepen their expertise in carbon accounting, reporting tools, and sustainability frameworks—while making a tangible impact within a global company committed to climate action.

This role can be in our Berlin or London offices on a hybrid working model.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with external consultants, and internal stakeholders to collect, track, analyze, and manage complex carbon data across Scopes 1, 2, and 3
  • Ensure accurate and effective reporting using existing carbon measurement tools and processes
  • Identify and recommend improvements to data collection, audit readiness, and carbon reduction strategies
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of sustainability reporting aligned with SBTi and the GHG Protocol
  • Engage with teams across the organization to raise awareness, build capacity, and support climate action initiatives
  • Train colleagues on carbon reporting tools and processes, enabling accurate local office and supply chain data input
  • Contribute to internal and external sustainability disclosures (e.g. CSRD, Ecovadis and others)
  • Support audit processes by ensuring the availability and quality of evidence
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving data accuracy, efficiency, and identifying carbon reduction opportunities

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience in GHG accounting and carbon footprinting (Scopes 1, 2, and 3)
  • Understanding of Scope 3 emissions, carbon modelling, and frameworks such as SBTi and CDP
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Degree or certification in sustainability, carbon management, or a related analytical field
  • Familiarity with carbon reporting tools
  • Experience presenting carbon data and making actionable recommendations
  • Knowledge of sustainability disclosure frameworks (e.g. GRI, TCFD)
  • Experience working in global, cross-functional teams
