Reports to: Band Director
Summary
The Drumline Camp Instructor, under the supervision of the Band Director, leads and instructs students in drumline techniques, rhythms, and performance skills during a camp or workshop setting. Fosters a positive and energetic learning environment to develop participants’ musical abilities and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Teach drumline fundamentals including rudiments, sticking patterns, and ensemble coordination
- Conduct rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to campers
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to skill levels
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and musical expression
- Assist with camp setup, logistics, and performances
- Ensure safety and positive engagement during all activities
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High School degree or equivalent
- Previous camp instructor experience
- Knowledge of marching band culture and repertoire
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient in marching percussion and drumline techniques
- Experience teaching or performing in drumlines or percussion ensembles
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire young musicians
- Reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic
License and Credentials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- OVASE background and training sessions
