Summary:
The ESS Route Coordinator works hand in hand with the transportation routing coordinator and the district’s ESS department to route all eligible district ESS students and district McKinney Vento students; using district vehicles or contract transportation. Working and facilitating ESS Driver and Monitor review, training as per DPS requirements in the ESS area, also van driver training and review per District policy. Attendance and working with MIPS PCG and Business office on audit and vehicle student data submission. First contact for ESS parents with inquiries regarding transportation process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Contact and interaction with routing coordinator and ESS team to route and assign ESS riders, preschool riders, and any McKinney Vento or contract rider students eligible per IEP
• Direct contact with other school Districts regarding shared McKinney Vento transportation per the law and requirement of the McKinney Vento Act with applicable attendance tracking and reporting
• Knowledge and ongoing training per DPS with ESS drivers and monitor specific to the needs of our ESS riders (ongoing refresh and training as needed per the industry standards) Working closely with department trainer to collaborate and not duplicate efforts or information
• Working with ESS staff for a smooth transition with additions/deletions of locations, programs, and sections to support transportation resources available
• Working closely with routing coordinator to assist in parent contact, map updates, school communication as needed
• Corresponding between locations to insure accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.
• Receipt of all District McKinney Vento and ESS transportation requests for review and distribution to Routing department and/or drivers
• Driver and vehicle assignment to all ESS team with assistance from routing coordinator
• Documentation and tracking of riders, miles, and specialty equipment for annual reporting purposes.
• Assignment and distribution of training, law changes, updates to remain DPS compliant
• Preparation of IEP transportation sheets for daily needs for student safety and success on bus, confidential in binders.
• Closely working with ESS staff and site secretaries to assist with any specialty requests for ESS students or routes
• Customer service to all requestors, and families to ensure a positive ESS transportation planning experience
• Inventory and rotation of any specialty seating or safety devices for transport in all ESS vehicles per NHSTA guidelines
• Communication of any dates not available for trips due to District needs
Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid AZ CDL driver’s license with student passenger endorsement
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
• Strong knowledge of DPS Student Transportation guidelines and policies
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment:
Salary based on column F Classified Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board.
12-month position, 8 hours per day.
