Position Description
clinic. This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease,
whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial, or behavioral. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medication,order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records, and refer patients for the services and care indicated. Reports to the Division Chief of NICU services. Refer to the delineation of privileges for a specific scope of practice.

Major/Essential Functions
- Attend deliveries at UMC, provide initial resuscitation interventions for neonates of all ages, perform physical examinations, and provide antenatal counseling. Current NRP and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross are required.
- Performs a complete neonatal physical examination and assessment. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings. Elicits records and interprets a complete health history including all obstetrical, past medical, family, and psychosocial aspects.
- Writes admissions, discharges and medication orders with co-signatures.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary.
- Formulates care plan based on physical exam or other data and implements plan.
- Consults with attending or Resident Physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan. May be responsible for attending Labor & Delivery for consults, vaginal deliveries and C-sections
- Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes. Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork).
- Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution
- Remains current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.

Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program; current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification is required. Advanced Practice Nurse Licensed in the State of Texas or Compact State Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire required BLS, PALS, and NRP by the American Heart Association is required.
- A Master's degree or Doctorate from an accredited Nursing Program is preferred.
