Position Description

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Travel Required

Major/Essential Functions

  • Provides Endocrinology consultations and clinical services in an inpatient/outpatient setting
  • Collaborates with leadership group(s) to improve quality of care in inpatient setting
  • Engages in extensive and on-going communications with community primary care physicians
  • Completes all medical records and documentation accurately and timely to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements
  • Limited outpatient responsibilities, based on candidate's interest
  • Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through scholarship
  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
  • Ensures compliance with HIPPA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
  • Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Experience as a hospitalist in a community hospital setting
  • Experience in teaching medical students and residents
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism in the United States
  • Texas medical license, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
