Position Description
Travel Required
Major/Essential Functions
- Provides Endocrinology consultations and clinical services in an inpatient/outpatient setting
- Collaborates with leadership group(s) to improve quality of care in inpatient setting
- Engages in extensive and on-going communications with community primary care physicians
- Completes all medical records and documentation accurately and timely to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements
- Limited outpatient responsibilities, based on candidate's interest
- Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
- Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through scholarship
- Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
- Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
- Ensures compliance with HIPPA and billing regulations
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
- Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Experience as a hospitalist in a community hospital setting
- Experience in teaching medical students and residents
- Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism in the United States
- Texas medical license, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
