Hybrid Paraprofessional - (Kernville, CA) (Open) at Kern County Superintendent of Schools

A Paraprofessional will assist and support the teacher in the educational process. Under supervision, a paraprofessional is responsible for tutoring or other instruction, assisting in classroom management or computer technology, conducting parental involvement or translation activities or working in a library media center.

•Education: High school diploma (or GED) and two years of college or, Associate’s degree (AA); or passage of an approved local assessment that demonstrates the ability to assist in instructing with reading, writing or mathematics. Must attach copy of college transcript and/or paraprofessional certificate. •Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age and have one year of paid or volunteer experience working with students age 9 through 17 years. Attach any documents that you feel will help demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications listed above (i.e. resume, transcript, diploma). $19.16 - $22.58 per hour. Maximum entry level for external candidates is $20.53 per hour. Salary step placement for promotional candidates is based upon Rules of the Personnel Commission.

Examinations will be weighted 30% for written and 70% for oral. Candidates must obtain a composite score of 70% or better to qualify for the eligibility list. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act. For entry-level positions, veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of five points to their composite score. A copy of your DD-214 must be submitted at the time of application to receive veteran’s credit.
