ABOUT THE POSITION
The Food Service Coordinator is an important position in the operation of the school. The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for managing the overall food service in the school. They are responsible for all meal/kitchen/cafeteria compliance and act as a liaison between E.L. Haynes Middle School food service and the school administration, staff, students, and the community. The Food Service Manager reports to the Operations Manager.
You will:
- Maintain up-to-date food service certifications including the Food Handlers License;
- Order breakfast, lunch, and snacks through the school caterer, making sure food meets the NSLP & HSA regulations and is appetizing to students;
- Monitor consumption rates to minimize wastefulness through ordering;
- Prepare and serve meals in a professional, timely manner, as dictated by the school schedule;
- Scan meals served daily into Campus POS (point of sale) for accurate billing and monthly NSLP & HSA claims;
- Assist the Extended Day Program in ordering, counting, and claiming snacks;
- Be aware of __ and order in accordance with __ student allergies and preferences;
- Record temperatures of food and appliances being used for food service as necessary;
- Set up and break down before and after meal service, maintaining a clean service area that is compliant with DOH regulations;
- Wipe down surfaces and sweep the floor before, during, and after meal times;
- Act as the primary contact for the Department of Health and confirm that all procedures and facilities are compliant;
- Integrate school activities and events into menu planning and cafeteria aesthetics;
- Collaborate with other Food Service Coordinators on best practices regularly;
- Assist Facilities Managers with daily tasks including, but not limited to, shared space cleaning, small repairs, etc.;
- Attend OSSE training and seminars regarding the NSLP and HSA as needed;
- Take on a leadership role around one of the following as qualifications and interests dictate: Compliance & Recoupment, Nutrition & Health, or Culture & Environment;
- Assist with special projects and events setup as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
You have:
- Food handlers certification (preferred);
- An ability to lift 25 lbs - 50 lbs from the ground;
- At least two years working with K-12 student populations; and
- Early morning availability (7:30am - 3:30pm).
You might also have:
- Experience working with grade 9-12 students;
- Experience working with school meal vendors; and
- Strong communication skills and time management.
