POSITION:
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Elementary Support Teacher (EST) who is responsible for a variety of duties in supporting student academic and social/emotional needs. The EST helps to meet the learning needs of students who are not making satisfactory progress in regular classroom settings and need additional assistance. The EST will work with students through both in class and out of class interventions, in addition to supporting the social, emotional, medical, behavioral needs.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW:
Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,200 students pre-K – post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $176 million, with a state funding of $9,600 per pupil.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
Evidence of five years of teaching experience across elementary grade levels is preferred
Successful experience working collaboratively with others
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Has demonstrated successful experience in student engagement and motivation
Has demonstrated a working knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies for students in the core curriculum areas that are research-based best practices
Has demonstrated successful experience in providing research-based interventions in the affective domain for struggling students
Experience in the administration and interpretation of formal and informal assessments
Leadership experience and the ability to apply staff development practices are also important
Training in instructional practices in reading and writing
A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships
Skills in individualizing instruction
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exhibits a commitment to the District's Shared Vision and Collective Commitments
Creates a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture
Provides academic, behavioral, health and social-emotional support and interventions for students.
Actively participates in the Achievement Team, 504 Plans and Individual Health Care teams.
Plans, coordinates and implements student intervention services in conjunction with classroom teacher(s).
Monitors student academic and behavioral progress in collaboration with school staff.
Works with school team to implement trauma-informed approached to address preventative and responsive measures for students.
Contributes to positive home/school relationships by serving as a resource to teachers, students and parents.
Provides support with the implementation and data analysis of universal screeners, student assessments and progress monitoring data.
Works collaboratively with Student Services support staff to provide appropriate interventions and data collection of student achievement and behavior
Works collaboratively with the classroom teachers and Instructional Support Team to assess and create programs to meet students' needs
Collects and analyzes data based on student performance and plans interventions for struggling students
Attends professional training sessions on identified topics to be used with students
Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. This posting will remain open until qualified candidate is selected.
