Additional Information: Show/Hide HS ATHLETIC COACH - HEAD COACH
Definition: A professional staff member who provides instruction and coaches students to develop skills and abilities to excel in the assigned sport as well as fostering overall educational growth and sportsmanship.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School diploma 2. Successful coaching and/or sport participation experience 3. Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules 4. Knowledge of strengthening and conditioning methods and techniques 5. Demonstrated ability to work with students, teachers, parents and citizens of the community 6. Organizational skills to complete tasks responsibly
REPORTS TO: The appropriate head athletic coach/athletic director
JOB GOAL: 1. To lead and supervise a successful sport season 2. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship 4. To help provide positive school climate and ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Assists with preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition. 2. Receives guidance and instruction from more senior coaches in general and specific coaching procedures, methods, and techniques. 3. Assists as directed with the oversight of athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport. 4. Assists in monitoring and supporting student athletes in academic progress. 5. Assists as appropriate in planning and arranging team travel. 6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Specific sport season 2. Salary and benefits as per Board policy 3. Salary range: $4223 - $6123
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy and procedure for evaluation of professional personnel.
