Summary
The Training Coordinator is responsible for providing support to both warehousing and transportation divisions daily. The specialist will conduct all training, both in an office and operations setting on the appropriate work shift, to all newly hired employees as well as re-training current employees as needed. This position will ensure all company safety and training guidelines are adhered to. In addition to delivering training, the specialist is also responsible for reporting, tracking, and maintaining all training program documents and ensuring compliance with the program.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete training with new truck drivers regarding ELDs, manual log, tablet usage, and initial safety training

• Week 1 follow up training for admin and warehouse (or coordinates if additional expertise needed)

• Performs one-off training sessions to address performance issues (as requested by Facility Managers)

• Performs safety training as directed by Safety Manager

• Identifies and communicates issues up from warehouse floor

• Acts as a transportation supplemental safety resource

• Auditing driver logs on a daily basis

• Reviewing camera events and passing along items to transportation management

• Maintain DOT files and coordinate DOT audits (or mock audits)

• Maintain adequate safety supplies

• Responsible for all position training throughout the organization with focus on warehouse positions (administrative support, forklift operator, and janitor) and driver positions (shuttle/switch and short haul).

• Conduct knowledge and operational assessments during the training process including Safety, Forklift, Battery Exchange, and use of various computer systems.

• Provide on-going training for staff which includes cross-training for all employees learning additional company functions and monthly safety refresher training.

• Train employees on company's practices and processes, as well as site-specific operations requirements.

• Implements all training as assigned, ensuring employees understand safety, food safety and transportation/warehouse operation requirements.

• Holds employees accountable for performance against SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

• Audits the work of employees for adherence to training standards and SOPs.

• Meets regularly with management to provide evaluative feedback and suggestions for program improvement.

• Leads initial orientation and serves as on-boarding mentor.

• Discusses overall training plan and schedule with trainees.

• Assists in updating the training curriculum as required.

• Understands the training documentation process and tracks the completion of each trainee’s progress.

• Effectively communicates with all levels of management and employees.

• Can operate a forklift with no accidents.

• Certified to train warehouse workers to drive a forklift.

• Documents improved process suggestions or quality measures and alerts Facility Manager of improvements.

• Keeps work areas clean and neat.

• Contributes to our safety culture by displaying a positive, safety first behavior.

• Encourages co-workers to work safely and follow safety procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or an Associate’s degree and two years of related experience, or four years related experience and/or training. This position requires the equivalent combination of four years education and experience.

1-2 years of experience in a distribution environment preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software (Maves, SAP, Yardview, Synapse, AX); Windows, Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Reasoning Abilities

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
