THE POSITION
Under direction of an administrator, provides a variety of career and vocational services for students with exceptional needs; matches students to appropriate work environment; recruits for potential employees; and performs other related duties as directed.
CURRENT OPENINGS: One 10-month/35 hours per week position. Salary placement will be on Range 24 of the CSEA Salary Schedule "B." Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($25.95 per hour) of this salary range.

Position Duties
- Provides a variety of career and vocational services for special education students
- Identifies and develops prospective work sites for direct hire or subsidized wages
- Meets with students to provide guidance on job needs, preferences, skills and career goals
- Assists students in developing grooming and communication skills, attendance, public contact and work behaviors
- Provides guidance for students on mobility and travel
- Meets with students to assess job needs
- Assists students in preparing resumes and completing employment applications
- Contacts employers to solicit positions for the program
- Provides program information to students, parents and the community
- Discusses student job performance, work needs, attendance and work needs with employer
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- Uses a computer
- Operates a variety of standard office equipment
Employees in this classification sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time, maintain their balance, use fingers repetitively, use both hands simultaneously, have rapid mental/muscular coordination, speak clearly, hear normal voice conversation, see small details, drive a vehicle, use a computer and a telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this classification work both inside and outside, in direct contact with the public, students, and in the absence of direct supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed herein:
Completion of the 12th grade and two years experience in special education, career guidance, vocational placement or related field. College coursework in psychology, sociology or related area is desirable. Experience working with disabled students is desirable.
License and Automobile Requirement:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Insurance Requirement:
Evidence of adequate insurance for a motor vehicle which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement and continue to maintain insurability.
