About The Role:
Responsible for the set-up and tear down of chairs, tables and other related materials/furniture in exhibit halls, lobbies, public and banquet areas, and meeting rooms in preparation for various events. This is a Part-time position; it is event-driven, and work hours are not guaranteed.
This is a Union position with the SEIU-USWW.
Shift: 3rd shift - 11:00pm to 7:30am (must be available four days, including Friday, Saturday & Sunday).
Compensation: $20.76 per hour + $1.00 differential (paid on a bi-weekly basis).
What You Will Do:
- Set up chairs, tables, partitions, material/furniture in preparation of various events.
- Break down and stacks chairs, tables, partitions, and other related material/furniture.
- Set up risers in preparation for various events.
- Follow directions and read room plans to set-up for an event.
- Work efficiently and quickly to set-up and breakdown an area in preparation for an event.
- Maintain proper care of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Safely operate assigned Facility Services equipment upon successful completion of equipment training. Types of equipment employees may be assigned to operate could include forklift and electric cart.
What You Will Need:
- Will train on site. General work experience in a convention center, hotel or large public meeting facility a plus.
- Ability to understand instructions, policies, and guidelines and the ability to engage in effective communication with the manager and staff. Basic ability to write, understand, and speak in English.
- Basic math is used frequently to ensure the proper set up of tables, settings, chairs, etc.
- Ability to understand and follow guidelines, adhere to timed objectives, productivity measurements and similar company standards and expectations. Ability to always apply good judgment. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- General work experience necessary. Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures. Ability to workday and/or evening shifts, including weekends.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, in the presence of fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
- This position is exposed to cleaning products and chemicals, which are used in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction labels, posted on the product.
- The Convention Center is a 24/7 operation; therefore, hours and days outside of the standard work schedule may be needed.
