Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for the position of Senior Systems Analyst - OneSis(M190).
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), in service of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst to join its Central Administration IT Team. This is considered to be a remote position. However, attendance at in-person meetings or events could be required on rare occasions, for which employee reimbursement will occur in alignment with IUP travel procedures.
The Team is responsible for the delivery of critical centralized services to the 10 PASSHE universities and the Office of the Chancellor. These services include critical support, coordination, governance, and IT operations activities for PASSHE’s new Banner Ellucian-based student information system (SIS) and its customized centralized student data collection ecosystem.
As a Senior Systems Analyst, being a great team player will be key as you will join a highly collaborative environment. The position is a senior partner determining the Team’s complex IT operations. This activity includes the setting of application security standards and review and vendor submission of detailed code supplied by the universities. A major component of the position is the monitoring of a significant help queue that supports critical production activity, taking appropriate action in an independent manner. These duties will require a level of off-hours activity, especially in monitoring the progress of upgrades across more than a dozen vendor products and accompanying integrations.
Reporting to the Team’s IT Services Coordinator, this position will also perform customer support, analysis, design, and project management duties in a manner that includes extensive documentation. The Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for active participation in frequent technical meetings and written communications with colleagues across 10 universities.
Many activities will involve heavy usage of tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, project and code management tools, as well as vendor-provided user support applications.
Position expectations include efficiency in addressing multiple complex work assignments in an independent manner and effective contributions to decision-making processes. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or related field and higher education experience are preferred. ITIL knowledge, and a background in data warehousing/business intelligence and Ellucian Banner are a plus.
This is a non-represented management position.
Position Duties
MINIMUM:
- B.S. Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related field
or
- Equivalent experience.
Previous Work Experience:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in a variety of information technology roles, with a minimum of seven years of a demonstrated increase in levels of responsibility.
- Minimum of five years must include either application development, database administration, systems administration or network administration.
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
Minimum Qualifications
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
- Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
- Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
- Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
- Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
- Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
- Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
- Follow oral and written instructions
