Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and motivated full-time Nurse Unit Manager to lead a dedicated team of nurses. The position is based in spacious and modern facilities at Epworth Geelong, Waurn Ponds, which include 8 Acute Coronary Care beds, 15 Cardiac Step Down beds, and Neurosciences beds equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The Nurse Unit Manager will provide clinical and professional leadership to the team who are committed to providing individualised care with our strategic focus that every patient matters.  Reporting to the ADCS / DCS, you will bring expert clinical knowledge, innovative management skills and an ability to lead collaborative change in this highly respected specialty area.

  • Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
  • Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
  • Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all staff within the unit
  • Recruitment, retention, professional development of staff, financial management, occupational health and safety
  • Supporting the goals and strategy of the organisation.  

You will have:

You are a proven nursing leader who has well-developed people management, organisational and financial acumen skills.  An excellent communicator, you have a supportive and engaging style that enables you to easily build rapport with your team, key stakeholders, patients and their families.  You foster a supportive environment for patients and staff and enjoy actively contributing to the learning and development of others.   

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Possess excellent communication and customer liaison skills with proven ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Contemporary knowledge of best practice in neuroscience & coronary care service
  • Committed to achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and understanding of budgets

Qualifications:
  • Related Post Graduate qualifications (clinical or leadership) desirable
  • Post graduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing essential
