- Ensure all employees understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as, state & federal laws and regulations. Ensure all employees understand their OSHA rights. Conduct safety training topics as required or needed. Responsible for scheduling employees to attend all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions. Promptly investigate all accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
- Monitor the foundry process and standards to maintain metallurgical process and sand controls
- Develop and refine metal alloys to meet specific mechanical and chemical properties
- Determine the root causes of casting defects and implement corrective actions
- Troubleshoot issues during melting, molding, and pouring processes
- Improve quality control procedures to maintain product standards
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes
- Perform physical and chemical testing
- Interact with vendors concerning various products and processes as applicable to the foundry to improve the process and its abilities
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in metallurgical science and technology
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a foundry or metallurgical environment
- Experience with ductile iron, green sand systems and vertical molding required
- Proficiency in metallurgical software, testing and analysis methods
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical and production teams
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
