The Service Technician supports quality assurance by performing hands-on testing and inspection of returned or serviced automotive components. Operating at the Gemba, this role drives Kaizen through data analysis, defect identification, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to eliminate Muda and improve processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct electrical, mechanical, and functional testing using calibrated equipment.
Perform visual inspections and dimensional measurements with precision tools.
Record and analyze data using SPC tools; maintain ISO/TS 16949-compliant records.
Submit parts for CMM layout; compile results for Quality Engineer review.
Manage trial part inventory with full traceability and status updates.
Conduct audits and inspections to verify conformance at the Gemba.
Review trial products and update ERP/QMS systems accordingly.
Draft inspection instructions for Quality Engineer approval.
Communicate with suppliers/customers regarding quality and warranty issues.
Support Lean initiatives, CAPA, and continuous improvement efforts.
Desired Experience:
High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred.
2+ years in quality control or automotive service.
Proficient in SPC software, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and maintain required safety certifications.
