Position Summary

Under guidance, oversees the clinical functions and patient care within the department

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, updates, implements and evaluates a comprehensive plan of care based on the individual patient needs.
  • Evaluates status of patients in emergency situations to determine and obtain appropriate care, administers various medications, shots, and lab tests.
  • Schedules tests and procedures for patients.
  • Educates patients and family regarding treatment and therapies.
  • Records diagnosis, treatment plans, progress notes and doctors' orders in patient charts.
  • Develops short- and long-term development and operational goals. Monitors outcomes and revises plans as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Physician Leader in managing all clinical quality and safety issues and initiatives.
  • Ensures practice compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of quality and safety standards for an outpatient physician practice setting.
  • Develops reports and metrics to identify gaps in care. Recommends corrective action plans.
  • Ensures that all clinical equipment is properly checked and maintained and logs are kept up to date, including AED, emergency kits, oxygen tanks, vaccine refrigerators, high level disinfectant and GUS stations.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to billing and compliance and audit processes.
  • Triages patient inquiries and communicates test results.
  • Provides in-office, patient care services. Duties may include obtaining patient histories, vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, administering vaccines/medications and educating patients.
  • Monitors levels of quality of service as measured by satisfaction surveys, customer comments and direct observation. Recommends strategies that are responsive to quality of service needs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing

Experience

Approximately 5 years of related clinical experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to delegate work effectively and hold others accountable for deliverables.

Licenses and Certifications

  • NYS Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Current Registered Nurse registration
  • Infection Control Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
