Position Purpose: 

The Director of the Health and Human Services Department develops the division’s strategy and oversees the work of the division including business development, project performance, staff development, and thought leadership. The HHS Department works primarily in the areas of community services such as strengthening family relationships, community and elder health, violence prevention, economic independence, child welfare, food security, and nutrition assistance. The department partners with agencies at the Tribal, Federal, State, and local levels as well as private philanthropic and nonprofit clients. As a member of the HHS leadership team, the Director works collaboratively with other leaders in the department and across the Tribal Government to deliver on PTIO’s strategic objectives and support a vibrant culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works      with the Tribal Leadership to coordinate long term organizational planning.
  • Oversight      of Federal ACF grants, including budgetary review and programmatic implementation.
  • Continuous      and On-going Data Evaluation and review to ensure community needs as      identify and appropriate funding and services allocated. 
  • Assesses      the needs of the community/tribe and determines appropriate opportunities      for funding.
  • Ensure      completion of programmatic and financial reports to granting agencies.
  • Develops,      implements, and monitors organizational systems, policies and procedures      for efficient workflow and communication across departments.

· Reporting any suspected Child Abuse and Neglect in accordance with State, Tribal and Federal

laws.

· Maintain confidentiality regarding all information regarding families, co-workers, and self in

accordance with the Tribal confidentiality policy.

· Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

· A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

· Minimum of three (3) years of leadership and financial oversight experience.

· Experience working with Federal Granting Agencies. 

· Experience partnering with State entities.

· Understanding of federal compliance requirements for funding.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to read, interpret and understand federal documents.

  • Proven management and      leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional      civic engagement organizations, and clear ideas for how to innovate on      those models.
  • Experience developing      organizational systems and processes for effective political work; can      match organizational strategy with effective systems to execute them.
  • Reliable      and self-motivated, with a high level of integrity.
  • Demonstrated      track record of creating and managing effective administrative systems and      policies.
  • Ability      to work well with different people while addressing their specific needs      with grace.
  • A      strong ability to anticipate the needs of the organization and proactively      design and implement solutions problems.
  • Ability      to support multiple staff, working in different locations in an effective way.
  • Ability      to skillfully manage inter-organizational conflicts as they arise and      support the team to maintain a positive working culture.

· Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

· Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize.

· Proficiency with computers and programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.

Certifications:

· Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.

Conditions of Employment:

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 30 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
