Provide specialized reading instruction and intervention to elementary students identified with dyslexia or related reading difficulties. Implement evidence-based, multisensory strategies to improve students’ reading, writing, and spelling skills. Collaborate with campus staff, parents, and district specialists to ensure instructional plans are tailored to meet individual student needs in compliance with Texas Dyslexia Handbook guidelines.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university - Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate grade-level certification - Texas Reading Specialist Certification or completion of an approved dyslexia therapist program preferred - ESL certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the characteristics of dyslexia and related disorders - Proficiency in evidence-based, multisensory reading instruction programs - Ability to analyze assessment data and develop targeted intervention plans - Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills - Skill in progress monitoring and documentation of student growth - Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience - Experience providing reading intervention or working with students with dyslexia preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Support
- Provide small-group and individual instruction using a multisensory, structured language program - Align instruction with the Texas Dyslexia Handbook, TEKS, and district curriculum - Integrate phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies into lessons - Adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners - Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments to identify student needs - Develop individualized intervention plans based on assessment results - Track and document student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed - Prepare progress reports and share results with parents and campus staff
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and administrators to coordinate services - Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and strategies for home support - Participate in ARD/504 meetings as needed to support student success - Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with dyslexia research and best practices

*Salary is commensurate with experience *Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers * This position requires on-site, in-person work and does not offer remote work options.
