Job Title: Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Technician (In Anticipation of Future Openings)
Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Work Year: 250 days
Base Salary: $47,800 Actual salary will be calculated based on experience.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform general integrated pest management (IPM) functions. Serve as the district’s Structural Pest Control Board licensed pest control applicator (SPCB commercial or non-commercial licensure) for campus facilities and grounds. Structural pest control includes but is not limited to identifying infestations, making inspection reports, providing recommendations and performing services to control, prevent and eliminate infestations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma, GED certificate, or 16 hours of entomology coursework (or related field)
Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) commercial or non-commercial licensure with general pest and lawn, termite, and ornamental endorsements
Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record that is insurable with FISD insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws applicable to pesticide application in a school environment
Ability to interpret and follow the IPM policy for public schools
Knowledge of the IPM process: Inspect, Identify, Take Action, Evaluate
Knowledge of application equipment
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to work independently
Experience:
Licensed technician for at least 6 months, and employed in pest control services for at least 12 months
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Control various pest populations throughout district buildings and grounds utilizing chemical and non-chemical control strategies.
Study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested areas and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation.
Assist in repair and maintenance of district facilities as it relates to Integrated Pest Management practices and policies.
Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems.
Perform campus pest control inspections as they relate to current IPM state regulations.
Operate equipment and tools following established safety procedures.
Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Maintain tools and application equipment and perform preventive maintenance and calibration as required.
Maintain accurate records to show pesticides used, dosage, times, places and methods of applications.
Ensure storage and disposal of pesticides conforms to regulations.
Maintain certification by attending recertification seminars annually as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
