SUMMARY
The ROCK Development Specialist is responsible for overseeing the analysis, design, development, and implementation of the ministry software application and database management tool, ROCK. This includes working with ministry stakeholders to understand their needs, designing and developing solutions, and testing and deploying those solutions. The ROCK Development Specialist also works with other IT staff to ensure that the software applications are properly maintained and supported as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in coordination with the overall goals and objectives of Pinelake Church.
- Assists the One Church team to work toward excellence in all areas of the ministry.
- As a part of the overall One Church team, participate in campus-wide ministry events.
- Basic personal responsibilities:
- Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, meditation and practicing L3.

SPECIFIC LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes ministry requirements and translates them into technical specifications.
- Oversees the design and development of software applications that meet ministry needs.
- Creates systems documentation that accurately describes application function and workflows.
- Provides training to users on new releases and best practices.
- Analyzing ministry needs: The ROCK Development Specialist works with ministry stakeholders to understand their ministry needs and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Articulates requirements for the design and development of application system capabilities: Working with ministry stakeholders, the ROCK Development Specialist will document requirements for new capabilities and/or to modify existing systems to meet ministry needs. This includes the backend development and coding within the database management tool, ROCK, to provide the best experience for end users.
- Maintaining and supporting application systems: The ROCK Development Specialist will receive incident reports, work with stakeholders to understand the incidents and provide solutions to fix the incidents.
- Document application systems: ROCK Development Specialist documents application systems so that users and other IT professionals can understand how they work.
- Working with other IT professionals: Will often work closely with other IT professionals, such as programmers and data integrity specialists to maintain application systems. This includes maintaining working relationships with third-party providers.
- Staying up to date on the latest technologies: Information Technology is constantly evolving, so it is important for the ROCK Development Specialist to stay current on the latest application releases and their impact to Pinelake. This may involve attending conferences, reading release notes, and taking online courses.
- Facilitates clear communication and collaboration across ministry areas through reporting, data assimilation, project management, and consistent updates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise non-exempt and exempt personnel. Will work with ministry staff and servant leaders.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of application systems experience minimum for competitive candidates. Applicable experience may substitute for portions of the educational framework.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
The individual must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people, communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone, e-mail and in person, demonstrating tact and diplomacy. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with volunteers, co-workers, the public and church members and regular attendees. The individual must have the ability to understand written or oral instructions; read, analyze and interpret complex documents, instructions manuals, policies and procedures is essential.
COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The individual must have demonstrated skill in the use of Windows/MacOS to complete tasks, including word processing and spreadsheets and the ability to use the internet for information retrieval. The individual must have basic mathematical skills, knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting, and budget and expense monitoring. The individual must have the ability to read financial information and spreadsheets.
REASONING ABILITY
The individual must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries; simultaneous conceptualization and planning of multiple tasks, ability to project outcomes using different implementation strategies and ability to apply creative and innovative thinking to problem situations; and solve practical problems. The ability to work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions to ensure deadlines are met is essential.
