Job Overview:

The 401(k) Specialist plays a crucial role in the management and administration of employer-sponsored retirement plans, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and supporting clients in implementing timely retirement decisions. This role requires strong knowledge of retirement plan structure, customer service, and financial acumen to help plan participants maximize their retirement savings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan Administration:
    • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the company’s 401(k) plan.
    • Ensure compliance by actively working with financial advisors or third-party administrators regarding retirement plans.
    • Manage plan documents, and amendments, and ensure timely plan audits and nondiscrimination testing.
    • Coordinate and process plan contributions, rollovers, distributions, and loans.
  • Employee Support:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, employees, financial advisors, and third-party administrators regarding 401(k) plans.
    • Assist employees in enrolling in the plan, updating personal information, and resolving any issues.
  • Financial Management:
    • Work with financial advisors or third-party administrators to manage the plan.
    • Review and reconcile financial statements for the 401(k) plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar in a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in retirement plan administration, specifically 401(k) plans.
  • Experience with retirement plan software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with third-party administrators and financial advisors.
  • Certification such as Certified Retirement Services Professional (CRSP) or Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and employee benefits administration.
