Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and written/verbal work instructions to construct and assemble trailer components using electric, pneumatic, and hand-powered tools.
- Ensure product conformance with specifications and standards as outlined in work orders, drawings, and other relevant documentation.
- Measure, mark, cut, and machine parts using tools such as tube benders, band saws, plasma torches, and other equipment.
- Collaborate with other sheeters and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve any product or process issues that may arise.
- Adhere to and sustain lean manufacturing processes such as 5S, Point of Use Storage, Kanban systems, etc., to ensure productivity, efficiency, and a safe, clean work environment.
- Float to other departments as necessary to support company-wide production needs.
- Follow all company policies and procedures as directed to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Complete tasks in a timely manger while maintaining a high standard of product quality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or department heads.
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with trailer component assembly or fabrication is a plus.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read a tape measure with precision to 1/16-inch increments.
- Basic welding skills (aluminum welding with a MIG welder preferred).
- Proficiency using a plasma torch and other necessary tools for cutting and shaping parts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, ensuring collaboration and efficient task completion.
- Familiarity with product construction and application, focusing on delivering high-quality work at the source.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Able to adapt to changing work demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to maintain a regular work schedule to ensure product flow and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and move about the facility for extended periods, including up to an 8-hour shift with occasional required overtime.
- Frequent need to stoop, bend, twist, squat, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
- Repetitive use of hands and arms for gripping, twisting, and squeezing tools such as welding guns, plasma torches, pneumatic/electric hand tools.
- Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. independently; anything over 50 lbs. should be team-lifted.
- Safe handling of tools and machinery required to perform the job.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses (required at all times)
- Safety shoes (required at all times)
- Hearing protection (required when exposed to loud noise)
Work Environment:
- Combination of non-air-conditioned plant and outdoor environment.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.) while moving between indoor and outdoor areas.
- Exposure to loud noise during shifts; hearing protection is mandatory.
- Exposure to smoke/fumes from welding operations.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
