THE ARC OF THE QUAD CITIES AREA IS SEARCHING FOR A COMPASSIONATE AND DETAIL-ORIENTED PERSON TO JOIN OUR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY (AT) TEAM! 

As a Lead Direct Support Professional in Assistive Technology, you will play a key role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by assessing and recommending assistive technologies. Your expertise will help clients achieve greater independence and improve their daily activities. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, you will apply your technical and clinical skills to provide tailored solutions that meet our individuals' unique needs.

This position is scheduled to work 35 hours a week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 AM and 4:30 PM.


What are the core Job Responsibilities?

  • Promote opportunities for individuals to participate in community life based on their interests, preferences, and needs. Use an agency or personal vehicle for outings, errands, and other needs.
  • Provide supervision, personal care training, active treatment, and medication administration as per individuals' service plans, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Offer program input and preparation for staffings, including progress reports, assessments, baseline data, interests, preferences, and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, guardians, family, community, staff, and others, representing the Agency positively.
  • Maintain documentation and individual records complying with standards, including incident reports.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by using proper body mechanics, precautions, and protective equipment.
  • Care for agency property and equipment; request supplies and repairs as needed.
  • Support self-advocacy and informed choices for individuals.
  • Attend training, conferences, and meetings; provide ongoing staff training.
  • Manage designated program areas in the absence of a supervisor; coordinate staff efforts, assign tasks, monitor documentation, and assist as needed.
  • Serve as a positive role model; communicate effectively; represent the Agency positively.

What are the Qualifications for this position?

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college coursework preferred but not mandatory. Must read at an 8th-grade level. 
  • Driving: Current and valid license and vehicle with insurance required. 
  • Strength: Capable of lifting 50 lbs and aiding with over-100-lb individuals. 
  • Flexibility: Able to kneel, bend, and transition from standing to floor to assist individuals.
  • Standing: Must stand or be on feet at least 90% of shift.
  • Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Technology: Familiarity with Microsoft preferred; must be willing to learn new applications.
  • Communication: Able to communicate verbally and produce accurate written documentation.
  • Certifications: Preferably has or can obtain Direct Service Provider certification within 120 days. 


What are the Program Specific Qualifications?

  • Communication: Skills in sign language are preferred but not required. 
  • Mechanical Ability: Must be willing to learn simple repairs and possess good problem-solving skills. 
  • Computer: Knowledge of Board Maker, Intellikeys, and other adaptive equipment is preferred but not required.
