Senior Developer – Web Application Development (.NET, Azure, SQL Server)

The Senior Developer leads the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications leveraging the Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server) and the Azure cloud platform. This role bridges business stakeholders, technical architects, and development teams to translate complex business needs into innovative technical solutions. Responsibilities include application architecture design, database integration, cloud optimization, security implementation, and delivery of enterprise-grade software that aligns with strategic goals. The Senior Developer also champions best practices, mentors peers, and drives the adoption of modern development frameworks and tools to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions.

Location: Remote with potential travel for project or team collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, modular, and secure cloud-based web application architectures leveraging Azure services, including App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, and Functions.

  • Architect and optimize robust data integration between .NET applications and SQL Server databases.

  • Champion and implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and input validation throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.

  • Drive adoption of architectural standards, design patterns, and coding best practices across development teams.

  • Research, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies and Azure capabilities to continuously improve application performance and scalability.

  • Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes, including automated testing and deployment pipelines.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development team members, fostering a culture of quality and innovation.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and maintainability.

  • Participate in after-hours support rotation for critical production systems.


Qualifications & Experience

Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development and architecture experience with the Microsoft .NET ecosystem (.NET Framework 1.1–4.6.x, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC/Web API, C#, Entity Framework).

  • Deep expertise designing and delivering enterprise-scale web applications on Azure, including App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, and serverless Functions.

  • Solid understanding of database design, query optimization, and performance tuning within SQL Server environments.

  • Proven track record designing secure, high-availability applications that follow industry security standards and best practices.

  • Experience implementing design patterns (MVC, MVVM, Repository, dependency injection) in production solutions.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills for complex technical challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and extending technical documentation.

  • Broad experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Preferred Skills

  • CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (Azure DevOps, Terraform, ARM templates).

  • Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and integration with .NET backends.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Education
