Position Purpose: The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of hotel facilities. This includes work in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light equipment operation, carpentry, masonry, and painting, as well as pool and spa maintenance. The role focuses on preventative measures to extend the life of property assets, support smooth operations, and provide an exceptional guest experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Duties and Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Work under the guidance and direction of the Facilities Manager or Supervisor.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor while interacting with guests, team members, and external partners.
- Respond promptly to work orders and complete routine facilities maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment in accordance with the established schedule and procedures.
- Conduct inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and address them promptly.
- Carry out general maintenance, which may include:
-Basic electrical, plumbing, painting, and drywall repair
-Tile work and minor carpentry
-Landscaping and grounds upkeep - Repair and treat various structures and surfaces, including floors, sinks, showers, walls, windows, carpets, roofs, locks, and drains.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and health regulations, ensuring compliance with hotel policies and industry standards.
- Assist with the maintenance of pools, spas, and hot tubs, as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned that support the efficient operation and upkeep of any property within the portfolio.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of basic repair techniques in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 1 years of facilities maintenance or construction experience required.
- Hospitality experience preferred.
- OSHA Forklift or Scissor Lift certification may be required.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required; conditions could include outdoors, indoors, and confined spaces.
- Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- May be exposed to extreme or variant temperatures, high and precarious locations, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have current, unrestricted driver’s license and be able to maintain company group insurance.
