The HR Service Rep serves as the first point of contact for employees and applicants contacting the Human Resources office. This position sits in the lobby of Human Resources and answers the phone, greets and directs walk-in traffic and provides basic HR support and information to employees and applicants in the areas of recruitment, benefits, leaves of absence and other HR programs. The individual responds to employee inquiries and leadership requests, identifies issues and escalates as needed. This role will coordinate directly with company employees, HR Business Partners and HR leaders, and company management to handle a variety of HR-related transactions. Processes all incoming and outgoing mail. Maintains all filing for terminated employees (department files). Reviews, verifies, enters and uploads data to HR information systems. Conducts background checks for volunteers, also clears students and volunteers with appropriate staff. May serve as a timekeeper for API system. Responsible for keeping forms stocked in the HR office. Prepares verifications of employment. The HR Service Rep will monitor shared email inboxes and distribute action items to team members while providing accurate, reliable and timely responses to internal and external customers. This position is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and instruction, and a high degree of accuracy and customer service.

Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Preferred Education: Associate's Degree
Minimum Experience: 0 - 1 year performing HR and data entry support
Preferred Experience: 3 - 5 years performing support activities in an HR department
