SUMMARY:
The position of Credit Analyst I is responsible for reviewing financial information taken from the lending officers and making sure that the cash flows and credit packages are developed correctly; assisting loan officers in determining if additional information is needed; and organizing the information in a specific format to be given to the Credit Officer for review for approval consideration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists loan officers in performing pre-qualifications assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of requests within the framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
- Assists loan officers in preparing spreadsheets and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns.
- Provides the spreading of financial information and credit memo preparation.
- Conducts industry peer comparisons, performs cash flow analyses and other such tasks and comparisons.
- Develops knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates and competition.
- Uses Moody’s Financial Analyst as analytical tool, as appropriate.
- Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with employees.
- Operates computer terminal or personal computer to obtain and process data.
- Answers telephones, answers questions from lending officers.
- Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.
- Assists with on-going computerization of the loan review function.
- Assists in training sessions for the lending officers when needed.
- Assists in maintaining the portfolio of commercial loans. This consists of working with the lending officers to make sure that all documentation is in file, that financial information is current, and assists in updating financial information and analysis as required during credit reviews.
- Completes annual compliance courses.
- Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
- Adheres to all levels of our Service Excellence standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge & Experience: These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field of study; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of banking, financial statement analysis, accounting and financial statement spreading. Understanding of different organizational structures, financial ratios, lending and economic terminology.
- Educational experience beyond the degree level, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related and include a general knowledge of financial accounting and credit underwriting to include tax return analysis. Work experience in financial analysis or loan underwriting a strong plus.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
