At Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, we don’t just talk about change—we make it happen. We’re on a mission to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: youth unemployment. And we’re looking for a visionary leader to help us scale our impact through powerful partnerships with civil society.
As our new Head of Civil Society Relations, you’ll lead the charge in designing and executing strategies that empower youth through self-employment and economic inclusion. You’ll work with Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), build networks of intermediaries, and collaborate with stakeholders like The Presidency of South Africa, Business Unity South Africa, and YES.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the design and implementation of Harambee’s Civil Society strategy.
- Drive and refine strategic initiatives to scale youth self-employment through partnerships with CBOs.
- Build and maintain a network of intermediary organisations that support youth economic inclusion.
- Provide oversight, management, and delivery of Harambee’s Civil Society Relations strategy.
- Manage a diverse, high-performing team aligned with Harambee’s strategic goals.
- Oversee stakeholder and funder engagement, ensuring alignment and impact.
- Lead human capital and financial management efforts with excellence.
- Collaborate across teams to integrate civil society efforts into broader organisational goals.
- Represent Harambee in strategic forums and partnerships to amplify youth employment initiatives.
- Continuously evaluate and improve programme effectiveness and operational delivery.
- Perform any additional tasks necessary to achieve impactful results.
Minimum Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Social Science or Commerce.
- At least ten years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, including data management and analysis.
- Experience working in local communities and/or townships is advantageous.
- Proven experience in team management within a similar environment.
