Terms of Employment: Permanent, 10 Month Position
Nature of Work
The Interventionist plans, implements, and evaluates student learning experiences using differentiated curriculum. This position helps students manage academic and social/emotional behavior and make appropriate choices. The Interventionist encourages parental involvement and collaborates with classroom teachers to maximize support for students. This position also complies with federal, state, and local laws and policies pertaining to the education of all students as well as those with disabilities, as applicable.
Qualifications and Licensure
- Associate's Degree or minimum of 48 semester hours of college credits
- Experience providing academic, behavior, and/r social/emotional resources or support for students
- General Knowledge of various subject areas
- Technology proficiency and knowledge of digital learning may be required for specific assignments
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizes student data and observations of student work to determine student needs.
- Implements daily intervention lessons that are based on student needs and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
- Facilitates engaging small group instruction for students.
- Maintains open communication with the student’s regular classroom teacher and parent/guardian to ensure student needs are being met.
- Maintains records of student progress, attendance and behavior.
- Uses effective classroom management strategies to create a safe, positive learning environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements (if applicable)
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motions and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
- Work has standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
Special Requirements (if applicable)
- Skilled in the use of computer equipment.
- Ability to conduct assessments and diagnose effectively and analyze needs and problems objectively.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff and administration and the general public.
