The EMS Supply Specialist manages the procurement, distribution, and inventory of supplies and equipment for Emergency Medical Services. They ensure adequate stock, maintain accurate records, and sometimes manage relationships with suppliers and vendors. The desired shift hours for this position are 0500-1300 (M-F).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Maintain the Main Supply room by cataloging goods and restocking supply bins when needed.
· Maintain inventory of the Bulk Supply room to verify that items are available in overflow.
· Board ambulances, as available, to assist with restocking, securing, organizing, and removal of overstock items.
· Restocks medical bags to ensure appropriate items and quantities of items are present.
· Keep all supply rooms, field bags, and units free from expired items.
· Discard any expired items properly and maintain the restock of the expired items.
· Prepare for any substantial items expiring that require an immediate and or timely order to restock.
· Verify that virtual and physical inventory match.
· Place orders as needed for the items to be restocked.
· Ensure the equipment and supply rooms are free of hazards.
· Train employees in how to properly remove supplies from inventory.
· Assist with cabinet tagging and inventory of units.
· Assist Logistics Manager with any other daily tasks that may need to be performed related to this position.
· Perform daily temp log entries for epoc testing solutions.
· Sign In / Out narcotic safes & keys. Replacing & correctly logging used narcotics and replacement meds into Teams spreadsheet.
· Be accessible to run spike calls with ODS if the need arises.
COMPETENCIES
· Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
· Comprehend and make inferences from written materials such as operations manuals and dispatch manuals.
· Enter data or information into a terminal, PC or other keyboard device to update information in the EMS Computer-Aided Dispatch system.
· Must be punctual and reliable.
· Positive upbeat attitude, enthusiastic and compassionate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or GED
· Knowledge of medical equipment and terminology
· Strong ability to multi-task and maintain composure during times of stress
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
· Experience as an EMT.
· 1-2 years of prior work history in logistics or inventory management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are in an office environment. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Subject to sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
