- Provide monthly grants reports to grants coordinator, upload grants budgets, calculate requests for funds and approve requests for CDE processing.
- Review and approve the majority of the district’s Pcard transactions, download data and receipt copies and interface transactions with ERP system.
- Review weekly accounts payable payments for accuracy, print checks and create positive pay file.
- Reconcile cash accounts and monitor cash position throughout the month
- Create monthly Head Start invoice for ECE.
- Post all journal entries for the district – i.e. property tax deposits, interest income, bank fees and other deductions, reclassifications as requested by departments and schools, allocations of field trip transportation, printing and postage costs.
- Add GL accounts in ERP system as necessary.
- Create and post budget transfers.
- Track and report PERA contributions for Independent Contractor PERA retirees.
- Assist with bond related fees, principal and interest payments.
- Participates in the Annual Financial Audit and the preparation of the districts Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
- Complete annual CDE-40 report. Upload report and supporting documentation to CDE.
- Participate in the preparation of the Data Pipeline submission to the State of Colorado Department of Education (CDE)
- Manage year end accruals and roll over process.
- Provide guidance and support to Payroll and Accounts Payable.
- Research and document recommendations on governmental accounting standards, new pronouncements and proposed accounting treatments, with an emphasis on Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Serve as a resource for financial inquiries and participate in cross-functional projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Five (5) years of school finance experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements for educational institutions.
- Proficiency in accounting software Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets; experience with financial ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a track record of driving process improvements.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of the school district. This position is responsible for overseeing financial transactions, monitoring and reporting financial performance of grants, reconciling balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and requirements, and providing accurate and timely financial reports to support the district.

Salary range is $82,000 - $102,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
