Planning, Delivering Instruction, and Assessing Student Learning Interns are expected to design lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, implement engaging instructional strategies, and use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. This includes differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Collaboration with Mentor
Co-Planning Lessons and Activities Interns work closely with mentor teachers to collaboratively design lessons, classroom activities, and assessments. This partnership fosters shared responsibility and provides opportunities for modeling best practices.
Receiving Feedback and Engaging in Reflective Practice Regular feedback sessions with mentors help interns identify strengths and areas for growth. Interns are encouraged to reflect on their teaching experiences, adjust strategies, and set professional goals based on constructive input.
Coursework and Assessments
Active Participation in Certification-Related Coursework Interns must engage fully in all required academic coursework, which supports their development in pedagogy, classroom management, and subject-specific instruction. Participation includes attending lectures, contributing to discussions, and completing readings.

Professional Development
Engagement in Ongoing Professional Learning Interns attend workshops, seminars, and professional learning communities to stay current with educational trends and research-based practices. This continuous learning supports their growth as reflective practitioners.
Self-Reflection to Improve Teaching Practice Interns maintain reflective journals or portfolios to document their experiences, challenges, and successes. This process encourages introspection and helps them refine their instructional approaches.
Communication and Collaboration
Building Strong Relationships with Students, Families, and Colleagues Interns develop rapport with students and maintain open lines of communication with families to support student success. They also collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a positive school culture.
Fostering a Positive and Inclusive Classroom Environment Interns create safe, respectful, and inclusive learning spaces where all students feel valued. They implement strategies that promote equity, cultural responsiveness, and social-emotional learning.
Terms of Internship/Employment
Defined Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations Interns are provided with a clear outline of their duties, working hours, evaluation criteria, and professional conduct standards. These terms ensure mutual understanding between the intern, mentor, and school.
