CREC Teacher Residency Program (TRP) Internship Overview
The CREC Teacher Residency Program (TRP) is an alternate route to teaching designed to prepare aspiring educators through an immersive, hands-on experience. This 18-month program combines rigorous coursework with a year-long residency under the guidance of an experienced mentor teacher. Upon successful completion, residents are considered for full-time teaching positions within partnering school districts.

Classroom Instruction
Gradual Assumption of Teaching Responsibilities

Interns begin by observing and assisting in the classroom, progressively taking on more instructional duties. This scaffolding approach allows them to build confidence and competence in managing classroom dynamics and delivering content effectively.
Planning, Delivering Instruction, and Assessing Student Learning
Interns are expected to design lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, implement engaging instructional strategies, and use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. This includes differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Collaboration with Mentor

Co-Planning Lessons and Activities
Interns work closely with mentor teachers to collaboratively design lessons, classroom activities, and assessments. This partnership fosters shared responsibility and provides opportunities for modeling best practices.
Receiving Feedback and Engaging in Reflective Practice
