Job Title: Maintenance Technician w/Electronic Skills

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician with Electronic Skills is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and correct mechanical, electrical and process problems associated with production equipment to ensure proper operation and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the operations’ business goals and objectives.  Skills specific with electronics that include installing, troubleshooting and changing out components as needed. This position operates on site in an on-call capacity and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position reports to the PE Supervisor. 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

•          Can read, edit, and program PLC ladder programs, including A-B, Omron, GE Fanuc, and Automation Direct.

•          Can read, edit, and program HMI programs, including A-B and Automation Direct.

•          Installation and troubleshooting of discrete and analog laser sensors.

•          Installation, programming and troubleshoot vision sensors and cameras.

•          Capable of installing and troubleshooting various types of encoders and linear pots.

•          Familiar with PC controls as they apply to an interface on machinery to the controls.

•          Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs company production and plant facility equipment to ensure optimum production, usage and quality.

•          Maintain all safety work standards.  

•          Troubleshoot, repair. ability to assemble/ disassemble and convert/ upgrade production lines or support equipment as required for repairs and installation.  Ability to identify and work with contractors to repair, install, remove, and/or upgrade equipment.  Maintain a safe work environment.

•          Trouble-shoot and perform repairs efficiently and expediently.

•          Performs trial run of machinery to ensure operation for production.

•          Fabricate new components and assemblies as required; including fabrication of any part chutes, drops, conveyors or auxiliary equipment that is necessary to complete required part containment, or related parts or equipment that requires this application 

•          Assist in installations of equipment and perform preventative Maintenance functions as required.

•          Regularly inspect production lines and support equipment and schedule necessary preventive maintenance routines.  Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

•          Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.

•          Work concurrently with other technical personnel to enhance machinery productivity and up time

•          Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.

•          Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

•          Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

•          Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.

•          Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

•          Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

•          Communicate with other Maintenance personnel and support personnel from other departments 

•          all other duties as assigned or needed (may include repairs to Air Compressors and Chillers and other Manufacturing auxiliary equipment as assigned.) 

 

Minimum Requirements:  

•          Requires a high school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience; 

•          A degree or certificate in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus; 

•          3 years experience maintaining Rubber Injection Molding machines a plus.

•          5+ years of manufacturing experience

•          Strong hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC. Must be highly motivated and able to work independently. 

•          Strong background in Electronics. Degree preferred, but not required.

•          Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license and a good driving record

•          Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

•          Maintain a positive and professional attitude 

•          Mechanical aptitude and proven ability to learn mechanical, electrical, and Silicone Rubber principles

•          Excellent oral and written communication skills

•          Manufacturing with high-speed automation equipment, or peripheral utilized in assembly, or Injection Molding experience is a plus

•          Formal maintenance or plastics training desired

•          Able to stand or walk entirety of shift

•          Willingness to work in moderate to noisy manufacturing environment 

•          Provide personal hand tools

•          Ability to identify and work with contractors to repair, install, remove, and/or upgrade 

•          equipment.
