Essential Functions:
Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Required Qualifications:
Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills.
Physical Requirements:
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
May need to stand for long periods of time.
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
May be requested to work a different shift.
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
