Description
About Lorenz Clinic
At Lorenz Clinic, psychiatric care is integrated—not isolated. Our system is built for collaboration, not fragmentation. PMHNPs work side-by-side with psychologists, psychotherapists, and advanced trainees within interdisciplinary teams that address not just symptoms, but the relational, developmental, and systemic patterns that sustain them. Medication is used with discernment, grounded in context—not urgency or volume.
We’re not trying to be the biggest clinic. We’re trying to be the best. That means prioritizing clinical quality over scale, relationships over quotas, and sustainability over speed. The system is intentionally designed to support thoughtful, high-integrity practice, not transactional care. At Lorenz, psychiatric providers have a real seat at the table. They are partners in planning, innovation, and care delivery—not productivity machines.
As a psychologist-led organization, we’re structured to protect clinical depth, professional autonomy, and a strong culture of Reflective Practice. Our Core Values aren’t aspirational—they’re clinically functional, shaping how we hire, train, and lead. Lorenz is also a teaching clinic, with a significant portion of our staff engaged in training future clinicians, ensuring our work stays vital, layered, and forward-looking.
We’ve invested in an evidence-based Clinician Wellness Roadmap—a system that supports autonomy, fairness, manageable caseloads, and alignment with meaningful work. These are not perks; they’re infrastructure.
Our long-term vision is bold: to become one of the leading family institutes in the country—a nationally recognized hub of integrated care, practice-informed research, and clinician-led innovation. Psychiatric providers are vital to this future, helping us deliver nuanced, relationship-centered care in a system designed for depth.
About the Psychiatry Team
The Lorenz Psychiatry Department was founded on core values very consistent with advanced practice nursing: whole-person care, ethical collaboration, and relief of suffering grounded in systemic understanding. PMHNPs at Lorenz do not operate in silos or under productivity strain. Instead, they work within a relational and interdisciplinary model that supports precision, containment, and long-term therapeutic impact.
Our team treats individuals across the lifespan—without being boxed into narrow acuity bands. You’ll see a diverse range of presentations in a deeply collaborative setting where you can consult with psychologists, access testing, and contribute meaningfully to the shared work of the treatment team. You’ll also experience true professional dignity, supported by strong administrative infrastructure, seamless EHR interoperability, and a culture of equity and respect.
Lorenz Psychiatry also enjoys longstanding relationships with referring primary care providers, who trust the department to provide responsive, developmentally-informed consultation. We don’t chase volume—we build systems of care that endure.
As an affiliate of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, the department contributes to the growth of the profession through teaching, mentorship, and applied training. We see education as a form of impact—an opportunity to shape not only today’s care, but tomorrow’s standards.
The Role
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, W-2 position for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) seeking a structured, clinic-based outpatient role—a setting that is increasingly rare and highly valued in today’s behavioral health landscape.
Providers in this role work on-site during daytime hours with no call responsibilities. You’ll operate from a single office-based location, embedded in a well-supported, interdisciplinary care team. This means no hospital rounding, no in-home visits, no telehealth isolation, and no late-night disruptions—just thoughtful psychiatric practice in a system built for depth and professional dignity.
You’ll join a clinic that understands how to support the work:
- Dedicated admin and support staff (typical provider-to-support ratio <4:1)
- Access to in-house psychological testing, psychotherapy, and intensive outpatient group services
- An industry-leading EHR with full interoperability for collaboration across systems of care
- A team of relational, systems-oriented clinicians working toward long-term client transformation—not symptom suppression alone
Depending on your competencies, your clinical work may include medication management, psychotherapy, or a blend of both, as appropriate to your licensure and interest.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and—when appropriate—individual therapy
- Collaborate closely with psychologists and therapists in interdisciplinary care planning
- Participate in team-based consultation, reflective supervision, and (optionally) trainee education
- Maintain professional documentation and uphold ethical and regulatory standards
- Carry a steady, clinic-based caseload with protected time and support infrastructure
This role is ideal for a PMHNP who wants to practice at the top of their license in a clinic that protects professional boundaries, clinical autonomy, and whole-person care—not one that burns out good providers chasing quotas.
